Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information InstaStory does and does not collect when you use our free anonymous Instagram story viewer at instastory.app. We keep things minimal on purpose, and this page describes exactly how the site handles data, cookies, analytics, and advertising.

Information we collect

InstaStory is designed to work without knowing who you are. We do not require an account, we do not ask for a login, and we do not collect names, passwords, or profile details.

We do not store the usernames you search, and we do not host or archive the media you view. When you request a public profile, the content is fetched live from Instagram, delivered to your browser, and then discarded. Like most websites, our servers may automatically log standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of a request for security and troubleshooting, and these records are kept only briefly.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files that a website or its partners can store in your browser. InstaStory itself uses very few cookies, mainly to remember basic preferences and to keep the site working smoothly.

Our analytics and advertising partners may also set their own cookies and use similar technologies to measure traffic and serve ads, as described in the sections below. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, though turning them off may change how some features behave.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use InstaStory, for example which pages are popular and how people move through the site. This helps us fix problems and improve the experience.

Google Analytics may set cookies and process usage data, including a truncated version of your IP address, on our behalf. To learn how Google handles this information, please read the Google Privacy Policy.

Advertising

InstaStory is a free service supported by advertising, and we display ads through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other sites across the internet.

Google's advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enable Google and its partners to serve personalized ads to you based on your browsing activity. Other third-party ad networks may also place and read cookies on your device for similar purposes.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third party's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices. For more detail on how Google uses data from sites that show its ads, see the Google Privacy Policy.

Third-party services

To keep InstaStory free, fast, and reliable, we rely on trusted third-party providers for advertising, analytics, and hosting infrastructure. These partners may process limited data as part of delivering their services.

Each provider operates under its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review those documents to understand your choices. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Data retention

Because we do not build user profiles or store searched usernames, there is very little personal data to retain in the first place. Media is discarded immediately after it is delivered to your browser.

Technical logs that may contain an IP address are kept only for a short period for security and diagnostics, after which they are deleted. Cookies set by our advertising and analytics partners are retained according to each partner's own retention schedule.

Your rights (GDPR and CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the European Union's GDPR or California's CCPA. These can include the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information, which we do not do.

Since we do not maintain accounts or personal profiles, the amount of data tied to you is minimal. If you would like to make a request or ask a question about your rights, email us at support@instastory.app and we will respond.

Children's privacy

InstaStory is not directed to children, and it is intended for users who are at least the minimum age required to use Instagram in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

International data transfers

InstaStory is available worldwide, and our servers and service providers may be located in countries different from where you live. This means information may be processed in regions with data protection laws that differ from those in your own country.

Wherever data is processed, we and our partners take reasonable measures to protect it. By using the site, you understand that your information may be handled in these locations.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our partners, or the law. When we do, we will revise the date shown at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this page occasionally so you stay informed. Continuing to use InstaStory after an update means you accept the revised policy.
